Now that she is back, she soon crosses paths with her high school crush, and things heat quickly. Will she put her past insecurities behind her and let herself find her true home?

Cody Bates spent a couple years on the PBR circuit, but after an injury decided his place was back in his hometown working his family's ranch. He runs into Kris at the farm supply store, and finds that the old sparks never died. Can he convince Kris to finally give into his pursuit of her?

Gotta say, I loved it... over all it was a funny, pleasant love story of two people that had crushed on each other but was either scared or was backed down from one asking the other out. Kris was bullied by the head cheer bitch and her senior year went to hell Faust and she she graduated she ran to Dallas for 8 years before competing back home to her little town Oklahoma. Big event happened there either won't say but it really affected Kris a lot. Cody is a and his brother Drew perfectly bred and raise men, but Cody has always been missing something in his life and that was the one woman her loved for a long time and now she's back home and he will do anything to get Kris to be his, no one will stand in his way including Kris her self. Warning be prepared foo r lots of sex, I lost count on how many times it was, Cody and Kris couldn't keep their hands of each other including the first night their has their first kiss. I can't wait for more stories like this.

Long Road Home Kris Cody Hometown Love Book 1 edition by CA Wood Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I liked it. Cute. Hot and sweet. Although if they would have called one another Baby one more time I would have gagged! LOL
A couple of editing issues, but nothing major. I would recommend this book for a quick, good read.
Told in dual first-person POV by Kris & Cody. The chapters are clearly labelled so there is no confusion as to whose POV we are getting. However, there is some overlap, which bothers me. We read a scene from Kris's POV then it flips to Cody and he goes over the same scene again from his perspective. It felt redundant. Luckily, this didn't happen too often, but it still bugged me.

There were way too many sex scenes in this book. I don't mind sex scenes, in fact I love it when the H and h have strong chemistry and demonstrate their passion in this way. But in this book Kris and Cody were having sex all the time, and the sex scenes began to sound fairly similar and repetitive. I started skipping over them in order to get to the actual story.

Cody is very sweet. As Kris says, he is the perfect guy... a little too perfect, perhaps. And the bad guys were absolutely, irredeemably bad, too. They were all caricatures.

Kris was the only half-way complex or three-dimensional character in this story. She has self-esteem issues and it bugged me that we are never told why she stuck with her ex for so long when he treated her badly. All of her friends say she's feisty and won't stand for any nonsense, so why did she take her ex's nonsense for years? Another thing about her which didn't make sense she'd already had low self-confidence way back in high school. Why? Her family is loving and supportive... it left me wondering.

The editing in this book could be better. People were forever "starring" instead of staring and horses had "reigns" instead of reins (perhaps they were of royal bloodlines?). The author does not know how or when to use apostrophes and could do with a thesaurus, because I got tired of people constantly smirking or laughing loudly. I felt Kris's Southern accent was poorly done, too. It never sounded natural to my non-American ears, and it was inconsistent. For the most part, all she did was drop the 'g' at the end of all the -ing words (for example, lovin'), but apart from that there was nothing to suggest a Southern drawl, except when she would occasionally say "ya" instead of "you".

Cody and Kris's relationship progresses pretty smoothly with hardly any hiccups. I kept waiting for a major conflict to spring up and create more interest in the plot, but nothing happened. Every potential problem that crops up is solved very fast. They were nauseatingly sweet once they had declared their love for each other, and would say it to each other ALL THE TIME. I've read tons of romances, and I've never seen one where the H and h say "I love you" so often (THIRTY-FOUR TIMES! Yes, I did a search). It was really enough to give anybody diabetes... or at least a cavity.

If the things I mentioned don't bother you, then you'll probably enjoy this book. It's a pretty straightforward, smooth-sailing romance with a nice-guy type H and a slightly broken but by no means weak h. The one thing I liked the most was that Cody knew what he wanted and the moment he saw Kris was back in town, he decided he was going to go after this girl he'd had a crush on since he was 13. He knew she was special and he was going to try his best not to let her get away. Gotta like that in a hero ;)
